Heavy rains ravage Himachal’s Kullu district: The Kurukulla Devi Temple suffers severe damage, and roads are washed away.

Report (Nandini Rathore): News Live Now, Tirthan Valley, Kullu (Himachal Pradesh): At 5:45 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, the world-famous Kurukulla Devi Temple, located in Himachal Pradesh’s Tirthan Valley in the Kullu district, suffered serious damage due to heavy rains.

A large portion of the temple grounds at the Siddhpeeth in the Joginidhar area of Kotla sank due to a landslide on Friday evening. Miraculously, the main temple structure remains safe despite the heavy erosion. The temple’s main building is completely unharmed, both inside and out.

It’s worth noting that torrential rains and cloudbursts have wreaked havoc in the Himalayan regions for the past month and a half, causing significant damage in Himachal and Uttarakhand. This latest incident, which has worried millions of devotees, is part of this ongoing series of events.

The total estimated damage is running into crores. The walls near the temple, adjacent land, and properties of local residents have also been affected. All three main roads leading to the temple are completely damaged, which is hindering relief efforts.

Earlier, on July 26, heavy rocks and debris were also reported to have fallen on the temple’s temporary inn.

Thankfully, there have been no reports of any loss of life.

To assess the temple’s condition, a team from the Kaulantak Peeth reached the site on foot late this evening. From the Peeth, Mahayogi Savarni Nath Ji told ‘News Live Now’:
